The courses are individually developed and include both vocational and academic learning, integrating school and workplace learning. Students have an extended duration of learning in the workplace (minimum 40 hours), which is formally agreed with between the school, student, and the employer. Learning is assessed towards nationally recognised qualifications.
Students benefit through opportunities to achieve educational credits and further their educational or employment outcomes. They get hands on experience in a real workplace alongside adults. This often helps them focus on future career options, and the learning required to achieve those goals. It also increases their awareness of the relevance of school based learning.
